WAYS TO VOTE
There are seven (7) ways to vote in Berks County. Please note, you may not qualify for every option.
Vote in person at your polling place on Election Day, Nov. 3 2026.
Polls are open from 7 am to 8 pm.
If a voter is in line by 8 pm, they must be permitted to vote. Do not leave without voting.
Deadline to register to vote for the Nov. 3 general election is October 19, 2026

Vote Early at the Berks County Election Office
(PA’s version of “early voting”)
Location: Berks County Office of Election Services,
633 Court St., First Floor, Reading 19601
Hours: Weekdays, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Vote by Mail (no excuse needed.)
Applications for mail-in ballots for the November 3, 2026 general election MUST be received by 5 pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

Vote by Absentee Ballot (excuse needed.)
If you plan to be out of the municipality on election day or if you have a disability or illness, you may request this ballot type, which requires you to list a reason for your mail-in ballot.

Provisional Ballot
A provisional ballot is a paper ballot used at the polling place to record your vote when there is some question regarding a voter’s eligibility. Everyone is entitled to cast a provisional vote if they cannot vote using the machines. You should not leave the poll without casting your vote either on the machine or by Provisional Ballot.
5.
Alternative Ballot
If you have a disability, or are at least 65 years of age and have been assigned to a polling place deemed inaccessible by the County Board of Elections, you can vote by alternative ballot.
6.
Military and Civilian Oversees
Voters on active duty or residing outside of the country can register to vote and request an absentee ballot by submitting a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA).
7.
EARLY VOTING
Pennsylvania does not have traditional early voting. But you can vote early by going to the Berks County Elections Office.
Steps for early voting:
Go to the Berks County Election office. You must appear in person.
Request a mail-in ballot application. Complete the application and hand in the finished application to the county staff on the spot.
Your application will be reviewed immediately. County staff will verify your eligibility and complete the process while you wait. This may take a few minutes.
If approved, the county will give you your mail-in or absentee ballot right then and there.
Complete your ballot privately. Mark your ballot on site, just like you would at home.
Return your ballot before leaving. Seal in the required envelopes and submit it immediately to the elections office. No mailing required.
County staff will be able to assist you with any questions.
Deadline: The last day to apply for and vote by “early voting” is 5 pm

DESIGNATED AGENT
Voters with disabilities who need assistance applying for, picking up, and/or delivering their mail-in or absentee ballot may use a “designated agent” as a reasonable accommodation. The Pennsylvania Department of State, which oversees elections, has a form on its website to “Authorize a Designated Agent” to help You obtain and/or return your mail-in or Absentee Ballot.”

DROPBOX INFORMATION
The County of Berks has three ballot drop boxes for voters to return their mail-in and absentee ballots. Voters MUST return their own ballot and only their ballot.
For the 2026 General Election, the drop boxes will be at the following locations:

You have rights as a voter protected by both federal and Pennsylvania law.
A state or local government cannot deny you the right to vote because of your:
race,
ethnicity,
national origin, or
membership in a language minority.
Your right to vote can be challenged only if a poll worker, poll watcher, or another voter says you do not live in the precinct or are not who you say you are.
It is illegal for any person or corporation to intimidate or coerce you to vote for or against a particular candidate or political issue.
